How to turn your Nintendo DS (NDS) into a digital sketchbook…

26 May 2008 6 Comments

Ever thought you could make better use of the touch screen on your NDS other than just gaming? Now you can turn your portable game console into a portable digital sketchbook with the NDS application called ‘Colors’. All the components you will need are a DS-compatible flash cartridge and a microSD card.

Colors is a fairly basic (no layers or undo yet) but still impressive paint app, and more features, like DS-to-DS collaborative painting, are coming. You can use a full-size Wacom stylus if the DS one cramps your style, and export via Wi-Fi or microSD.

Personally, I was well impressed with some of these drawings / ‘digital paintings’, check it out…

Hey this is pretty cool! Just this weekend my daughter was complaining that she forgot to bring sketch paper on our camping trip. But she had her DS, with this setup she could have sketched sans the paper.

Nice application. My son asked me to buy game player for him and I don’t easily consent his request as I don’t want to waste money just for playing. But, now I know what to buy. This application will make DS able for education purpose rather than just game and fun.

Matie man, you need an adapter to go with the Micro SD card so that it fits into your Nintendo DS.
