Gadgets that may replace restaurant waiters: The Deli Touch food ordering system…
Can you believe it? The Japanese have actually been using this new food ordering technology for sometime and to us (at least to me here in the UK) we’ve never seen anything like it!
Deli Touch which is the pen like device seen in the pics above uses wireless technology to connect to the restaurants kitchen. When ordering, you touch the pen on to the menu on the items you wish to order. The pen has a camera which scans the codes and the wireless features transmit this data to the kitchen. Once the order has been placed a voice confirms that all is OK and a few minutes later your food arrives!
According to the source, this whole Deli Touch system is like a rental package for restaurants, it actually works out to be more cost effective than hiring waiters!
