iPhone 1.1.3 jailbreak to release today???

24 January 2008 No Comment

So far we have learnt that the iPhone 1.1.3 jailbreak will come in different variations, one of which will be hardware-based while two others will be software-based. We have just heard from the latest news that one of the software-based jailbreak will be due to be released - anytime now! While the other software-based jailbreak’s developer says they will be reserving their method possibly until Apple’s software development kit (SDK) launch is confirmed and finalised.

What may be of interest for all to know and to be prepared is that these software-based jailbreaks will not be simple, mainly consisting of scripts but not as tedious as that of the iPhone 1.1.2 jailbreak.

So what might you benefit from this jailbreak?

  • It will enable you the installation of unofficial third-party applications
  • As previously mentioned, applications must run in a restricted user mode under iPhone firmware 1.1.3. This means that several current third-party applications will not work properly
  • Applications that required access to the /var/root directory will no longer be functional

This is the latest update on the iPhone 1.1.3 jailbreak for the time being, but we’ll keep you up to date as soon as we can!
